Private detectives working on the case of the death of Scottish tourist, Craig Mallon, in Spain in 2012 are set to provide crucial information on potential new witnesses to the authorities. A dedicated team, led by former Strathclyde Police detective David Swindle, has been diligently investigating the tragic incident involving Craig Mallon, a 26-year-old civil engineer from Coatbridge, who was fatally attacked during his brother’s stag party in Lloret de Mar.
The investigations by Victims Abroad, an organization supporting families affected by such events, and a team of skilled investigators have uncovered details about four French nationals and nine associates believed to possess pertinent information regarding the case. The dossier prepared by the team, consisting of 27 comprehensive pages, will be submitted to prosecutors in Girona, coinciding with what would have been Craig’s 39th birthday, in a bid to seek justice for the Mallon family.
Debbie Smirthwaite, one of the lead investigators involved in compiling the dossier, emphasized the importance of ensuring a thorough and meticulous investigation to bring closure to the Mallon family. The identities of the potential witnesses, including four individuals present at the scene of Craig’s untimely death and nine acquaintances in the area, have been safeguarded for privacy reasons. These individuals are reported to be a close-knit group of friends with a long-standing history of holidaying together.
The efforts of the investigative team were intensified after new information came to light following a request for legal assistance from French authorities to interview two individuals linked to the case. As Craig’s father Ian expressed the family’s anguish over the lack of closure in the past 13 years, the investigative team is steadfast in their commitment to pursuing justice and holding those responsible accountable.
