Stop playing games on your phone while on the toilet, warns gaming CEO

Gaming CEO Warns Against Using Phone on Toilet

In a recent warning to smartphone users, a gaming CEO has highlighted the potential health risks of using your phone while on the toilet. Serge Eliseeff, CEO of GameTop, explained how what may seem like harmless browsing or gaming on the loo can actually lead to serious health issues.

Eliseeff pointed out that spending too much time on the toilet while engrossed in your phone can increase the risk of developing haemorrhoids and weakening pelvic muscles. He highlighted the negative impacts of prolonged sitting on the toilet seat, which can compress buttocks, lower the rectum too far, and restrict blood circulation, leading to swollen veins and increased risk of haemorrhoids.

Research suggests that the optimal time to spend on the toilet is around 10 minutes. Going beyond this limit can result in straining during bowel movements, which can further elevate blood pressure and potentially lead to conditions like acute constipation and rectal prolapse.

Eliseeff advised smartphone users to avoid taking their phones to the toilet, especially for extended periods. He emphasised the importance of maintaining a healthy relationship with devices and seeking medical advice if facing difficulties in regular bowel movements.

The warning serves as a reminder to be mindful of our habits, even in seemingly harmless situations like using a phone on the toilet. Prioritising health and well-being over convenience and entertainment is crucial in preventing long-term health issues.

In a world where technology has become ingrained in our daily routines, it is essential to be aware of the potential consequences of excessive screen time, even in the most unexpected places like the bathroom. By being mindful of our habits and making conscious choices, we can better protect our overall health and well-being.
