Big Brother Co-Hosts Share Health Concerns Ahead of 2024 Live Launch
Days before the anticipated 2024 live launch of Big Brother, co-hosts Will Best and AJ Odudu have disclosed ongoing health issues. The popular reality show, known for its social experiment format where contestants live together in isolation to compete for a £100,000 prize, is set to make its return this Sunday. After being cancelled by both Channel 4 in 2010 and Channel 5 in 2018, the show reappeared on screens in 2023 on ITV2.
Scheduled to welcome a new group of housemates in front of a live studio audience, Best and Odudu are gearing up for the high-energy season opener. However, in a recent statement on Capital radio, Best shared concerns about his health, mentioning a stiff neck that prompted an emergency physiotherapy appointment. He expressed, “It’s always good to just before the biggest show of the year…to not be able to move.”
While Best deals with his physical discomfort, Odudu has also encountered a setback, having lost her voice. Best explained that Odudu’s health issue led to her absence from their radio duties. Despite the health challenges, both hosts remain optimistic about their recovery before the live broadcast.
Expressing his love for the show, Best remarked, “I get nervous because I love this show so much… But, once we get to Sunday, just before we go live, the nerves sort of disappear. I can’t wait to meet these people.” The return of Big Brother last year was well-received following its hiatus due to declining ratings in 2018.
Looking ahead to the forthcoming series, ITV announced, “Once again, the public plays a crucial role, voting throughout the series and ultimately determining the winner, who will walk away with a life-changing cash prize. Who wins? You decide.”
In a recent interview, Best teased about the upcoming challenges in the new series, hinting at even more extravagant tasks to engage the contestants and viewers. He shared his excitement about the tasks, noting that the production team has elevated the quality to “raise the bar even further.”
Big Brother is scheduled to return to ITV2 and ITVX at 9 pm on the 6th of September. Fans of the show are eagerly anticipating the new season and the thrilling adventures it promises to bring.
