A technical problem at Germany’s air traffic control agency has caused disruptions, with some flights cancelled at Frankfurt Airport, the country’s biggest. The air traffic control company DFS stated that the issue, which occurred on a Friday morning, affected flight plans and weather data. It was resolved by 10:30 a.m. but led to delays of varying severity across the country.
Frankfurt Airport issued a warning on its website, notifying passengers to expect flight delays and cancellations throughout the day. Operator Fraport reported approximately 70 flights were cancelled, but anticipated no significant additional cancellations as the data problem had been rectified, as per German news agency, dpa. Lufthansa, the country’s largest airline, mentioned that while there were a few cancellations and delays, long-haul services remained unaffected.
