The Wishaw star, who gained fame on The X Factor, opened NHS Lanarkshire’s Staff Awards, acknowledging the profound impact the workforce has on the local community. Prior to the event, on October 2, Nicholas shared how NHS Lanarkshire’s services had supported him and his family through challenging times.
Recounting a harrowing experience at the age of eight when he suffered a cardiac arrest while playing football, Nicholas expressed his gratitude for the life-saving treatment he received at Yorkhill Children’s Hospital. He continued to praise the ongoing care he has received from NHS Lanarkshire professionals as he manages a rare heart condition. Nicholas highlighted the exceptional support he received from University Hospital Wishaw’s cardiology department, emphasising the care, understanding, and expertise provided by the medical team.
