John Murdoch’s Drive Time: Skoda Kodiaq SUV Preview and New MINI Gaming Installation

In this edition of John Murdoch’s Drive Time, we delve into the world of the Skoda Kodiaq SUV and the latest gaming feature now available in the new MINI. The Kodiaq, the largest SUV in Skoda’s lineup, offers the choice of five or seven seats, with options for petrol and diesel engines, different trims, and two or four-wheel drive configurations. Recently refreshed for enhanced efficiency and sustainability, the new Kodiaq boasts increased cabin space, a larger boot, LED Matrix headlights, and ergonomic seats.

Equipped with two diesel and two petrol engine options, including a plug-in hybrid powertrain, the Kodiaq provides ample power and comfort. The model I tested was the 1.5 TSI e-TEC SE L variant with 150PS and a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox, featuring a range of standard equipment, including a rear view parking camera, climate control, and advanced safety features. The interior is highlighted by a 13-inch touchscreen, Skoda’s Connect system for live journey information, and a virtual cockpit.

Driving the Kodiaq SUV reveals a spacious interior, increased luggage capacity, and a smooth, economical 150ps petrol engine paired with the seven-speed DSG auto box. The vehicle offers a comfortable ride with decent handling and impressive safety features. Despite its higher price tag of £46,225, the Kodiaq competes well in its segment.

On the other hand, the latest addition to the MINI lineup introduces gaming capabilities through Mattel’s AirConsole integration, allowing passengers to enjoy games like UNO Car Party on the infotainment system, stationed while the vehicle is parked. Priced from £22,300, the new MINI C offers a petrol variant with a 156hp engine, achieving 0-62mph in 7.7 seconds and 45.5mpg fuel efficiency. The MINI C also features advanced connectivity options, a comprehensive dashboard display, and intuitive voice controls for personalized driving experiences.

With innovations in entertainment and technology, the Skoda Kodiaq SUV and new MINI are setting new standards in the automotive industry, providing drivers with enhanced driving experiences and cutting-edge features.
