Liverpool’s Alisson set to be out ‘for a few weeks’ with latest hamstring issue

Liverpool’s Alisson Becker is set to be sidelined for “a few weeks” due to his latest hamstring issue, as confirmed by manager Arne Slot following their 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace. The Brazilian goalkeeper was forced off in the second half of the match, with Vitezslav Jaros stepping in to replace him.

Slot expressed his doubts about Alisson’s availability for Liverpool’s upcoming Premier League clash against Chelsea, stating, “I don’t expect him to be in the team for the first match we play after the break. We have to wait and see but it will be a few weeks for him to be back.” The manager acknowledged the impact of losing their number one goalkeeper, describing Alisson as “the best goalkeeper in the world.”

In addition to Alisson’s injury, midfielder Alexis Mac Allister was substituted at half-time after sustaining a groin injury, with Slot mentioning, “He felt it and said ‘it’s not good to keep on playing because it could be made worse’.” The severity of the injury and Mac Allister’s availability for international duty with Argentina remain uncertain.

Despite the setbacks, Liverpool secured their victory over Crystal Palace with a first-half goal from Diogo Jota, maintaining their position at the top of the Premier League table. Slot praised his team’s performance, highlighting their control over the game and the exceptional work rate displayed by the players.

While Palace displayed signs of improvement in the second half, manager Oliver Glasner acknowledged the missed opportunities, particularly a late chance by Eberechi Eze. Glasner expressed confidence in his team’s ability to bounce back from their winless streak, emphasizing the importance of competition and support within the squad.

As Liverpool navigates through Alisson’s absence and injury concerns, the team aims to continue their strong start to the season and build upon their recent successes on the pitch. The Premier League title race remains competitive, with every match playing a crucial role in determining the eventual champions.
