The 44-year-old detailed her ordeal on the October 3 episode of her podcast, Dumb Blonde, where she revealed spending a rough night in the bathroom due to the FDA-approved medication that is commonly used to treat type 2 diabetes.
Bunnie XO, whose real name is Alyssa DeFord, experienced severe side effects from tirzepatide, including stomach issues and nausea. She confessed, “It kinda sent me for a loop last night. I s*** my brains out – and I’m talking logs, baby. I also got sick. I felt like I was gonna projectile vomit.” The Mayo Clinic lists potential side effects of tirzepatide such as stomach pain, heartburn, vomiting, recurring fever, diarrhea, stomach fullness, and skin itching.
Despite being aware of the possible side effects, Bunnie XO thought that taking a small dose of tirzepatide, a practice known as ‘microdosing’, would be safer than taking the full amount. She admitted to having nightmares about the drug before consuming it and emphasised her inclination towards maintaining an all-natural lifestyle. The drug is intended to reduce appetite, yet she mentioned still feeling hungry while on it. However, after the distressing night, she claimed to have lost weight, waking up “a pound and a half lighter.”
Tirzepatide, administered through injections similar to semaglutide, is sold under the brand names Mounjaro and Zepbound. Bunnie XO’s tryst with this weight loss drug follows her husband’s success in shedding over 70 pounds through exercise and a revised diet. Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, met Bunnie XO in Las Vegas in 2015, and after initially establishing a friendship, their bond blossomed into a romantic relationship. They married on the same night as the proposal.
Their relationship faced challenges, with a temporary split in 2018 before reconciling in 2023 and renewing their wedding vows. While Jelly Roll has children from previous relationships, the couple is looking forward to expanding their family through in vitro fertilization (IVF).
