During a recent raid in Glasgow, a staggering £5 million worth of drugs and a firearm were discovered by officers from the Serious and Organised Crime squad. The haul included multiple kilos of heroin, cocaine, MDMA, and ecstasy tablets seized from a property on Curzon Street in the city. The operation, carried out in October 2024, revealed over 90kgs of cocaine, 23kgs of heroin, and 19kgs of MDMA. In addition, 5,800 diazepam and ecstasy tablets were confiscated, along with a substantial amount of cash, a firearm, and ammunition.
Furthermore, authorities found an additional 20kg of cocaine hidden in a vehicle at the same location. The total street value of the drugs is estimated at £5.5 million. Following the raid, two men aged 45 and 30, as well as a woman aged 31, were arrested and charged in connection with the significant bust. The trio is scheduled to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, October 7. Detective Superintendent Steven Elliott emphasised the message that illegal drugs will not be tolerated in communities. He highlighted the commitment of law enforcement to disrupt drug cultivation and sales, prevent circulation on the streets, and address public concerns.
Elliott stressed the importance of public cooperation in providing information about drug activities, urging individuals with knowledge to contact Police Scotland or Crimestoppers to report any suspicious activities anonymously. The raid and subsequent arrests underline the dedication of the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and Scotland’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy in combating illicit drug operations and safeguarding the public. The decisive action taken by law enforcement serves as a warning to those involved in criminal drug activities, demonstrating the commitment to protecting communities and upholding the law.
