Phillip Schofield has expressed feeling betrayed by those close to him as details of his affair scandal surfaced. The former presenter, aged 62, parted ways with ITV after confessing to lying about having a consensual relationship with a younger man who worked as a runner on This Morning. Schofield claims that other TV presenters have engaged in similar actions and suggested that numerous people could be thrown under the bus just like he was.
During the upcoming second episode of his return show Cast Away, Schofield shares his passion for working at Television Centre, London’s filming studios. He reminisces about his early years working at the BBC and how magical it was for him to walk through those gates. However, his fond memories were tarnished when the scandal broke, making the place feel hostile and heartbreaking to him.
Schofield left ITV following his public apology for deceiving the media, friends, and colleagues about his affair. Although he acknowledged helping the teenager secure work experience with the channel, he denied any sexual contact until the young man was about 20 years old. In the Cast Away episode, Schofield expresses his distress over the betrayal and disappointment he faced from those he believed to be his allies.
In light of recent events, Schofield has indicated that he will not collaborate with ITV again, even reportedly turning down an opportunity to participate in the upcoming series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here. He emphasised his unwillingness to work with certain channels or individuals, implying a shift in his alliances and career decisions. Cast Away is set to air over three nights starting from 30th September.
