The Vikings took an early lead with a 54-yard field goal by Will Reichard and further extended their advantage in the first quarter by scoring the game’s first touchdown. Linebacker Andrew van Ginkel intercepted Jets’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers and returned the ball 63 yards for a touchdown, with Reichard adding the extra points.
In the second quarter, fullback CJ Ham powered his way over from three yards for another touchdown, increasing the Vikings’ lead to 17-0. However, the Jets fought back towards the end of the quarter, with Isaiah Davis making a 35-yard punt return and Rodgers connecting with Allen Lazard for a touchdown, reducing the Vikings’ lead to 17-7.
Despite the Jets’ efforts, the Vikings maintained control of the game. Reichard kicked a 53-yard field goal in the final quarter to put the Vikings ahead 20-10. The Jets responded once again, with Garrett Wilson drawing a pass interference penalty and then catching a touchdown pass from Rodgers to bring the score to 20-17.
In the closing moments of the game, Reichard sealed the victory for the Vikings with a 41-yard field goal, extending their lead to 23-17. The Jets made a final push for a match-winning touchdown, but Vikings cornerback Stephon Gilmore intercepted a pass from Rodgers, securing the win for Minnesota.
The game also saw Rodgers surpass 60,000 career passing yards, becoming the ninth player in NFL history to achieve this milestone. Despite his impressive feat, Rodgers faced challenges throughout the match, including a knee issue that briefly forced him to leave the field.
