Singer Toyah Willcox and her dance partner Neil Jones were the latest casualties of the 20th anniversary series of Strictly Come Dancing. They faced off against former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson and his partner Karen Hauer in a dance-off during the BBC show’s second results episode. The duo performed their samba to ‘Poor Unfortunate Souls’ from The Little Mermaid, while Merson and Hauer danced the cha cha to the Magnificent Seven theme for Movie Week. Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton Du Beke chose to save Merson and Hauer unanimously, a decision supported by head judge Shirley Ballas.
Toyah Willcox expressed her gratitude for her time on the show, calling it “the best two months of my life.” She praised Neil Jones for his support and dedication, acknowledging his hard work as a teacher and friend. Despite scoring low during the live show, Willcox’s performance as Ursula garnered attention, especially when her spouse, guitarist Robert Fripp, heckled the judges. Love Island’s Tasha Ghouri made an impact with her rumba, scoring 34 out of 40 for her dance to Billie Eilish’s ‘What Was I Made For?’ from the Barbie film.
The Sunday results show featured a “rom-com inspired” dance routine by the professionals and a performance by British artist Alexis Ffrench. Strictly Come Dancing will return on Saturday, October 12, at 6.20pm, with the Results Show airing on Sunday, October 13, at 7.20pm on BBC One.
