The devastated parents of Jay Cartmell, an eight-year-old boy who lost his life in a firearms incident, have honoured their “perfect little boy.” The tragic incident occurred when Jay was shot on land near the A66, north of Warcop, Cumbria, while hunting rabbits with his father on September 28. Despite immediate medical attention and being airlifted to the hospital, Jay succumbed to his severe head injuries. A man in his 60s was arrested at the scene, initially on suspicion of assault and later on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter; he has since been released on bail.
