Residents of Gatehouse are set to have a say in shaping the town’s Local Place Plan, giving them a chance to contribute to the development of their community. The steering group working on this initiative is inviting everyone to attend drop-in sessions at the Mill on the Fleet. The sessions will take place on Wednesday, October 9 from 6pm to 8pm, and on Friday, October 11 from 2pm to 4pm.
The blueprint aims to capture the aspirations of the residents for the town in the upcoming years. Susan Miller, the group convenor, encouraged community members to participate and share their thoughts on what they consider important for the town’s future. Gatehouse Community Council convenor Mark Laird also urged residents to express their visions and desires for the town.
Following a successful session held recently, where residents discussed various topics such as transportation, housing, environment, economy, and services, the upcoming drop-ins aim to gather further input. Attendees will have the opportunity to voice their opinions on what is currently working well in the town and areas that require improvement. A short survey will also be available for completion.
The final Gatehouse Local Place Plan, once completed, will serve as a foundational document for Dumfries and Galloway Council as it prepares its forthcoming local development plan.
