Omar al-Fayed has stated that the claims have cast doubt on the loving memory he had of his father, who was the former owner of Harrods. The women have accused Fayed of multiple rapes and sexual assaults, with some claiming they were subjected to intrusive gynaecological tests to work for him. Barristers representing the alleged victims have stated that there are now 60 survivors with credible evidence of abuse, particularly at Fulham FC, which the businessman owned alongside his luxury department store.
A recent BBC investigation revealed that 20 women had come forward with allegations against Fayed, who passed away at the age of 94 last year.
