Katie Boulter beaten by Coco Gauff at China Open

Katie Boulter suffered a defeat in the third round of the China Open after a tough battle against Coco Gauff. Despite putting up a strong fight, Boulter was ultimately beaten by the World No. 6 Gauff with a scoreline of 7-5, 6-2.

In a closely contested match, Boulter and Gauff were evenly matched in the early stages. However, Gauff managed to break Boulter’s serve in the sixth game, allowing her to pull ahead. Undeterred, the British number one fought back valiantly, using solid serving to stage a comeback from 5-2 down to level the set at 5-5. The second set saw Gauff make a strong start, breaking Boulter in the fourth game to take the lead. She continued her momentum and secured victory on her second match point, sealing the win over Boulter in straight sets.

Following her defeat to Gauff, Boulter exits the China Open, while Gauff advances to the next round where she will face either Naomi Osaka or Katie Volynets in the last 16. Boulter had previously set up the meeting with Gauff by defeating Taylor Townsend.
