A heartwarming celebration took place at Stirling’s Albert Halls as over 150 individuals gathered for the 2024 Inspire Volunteering Awards. Hosted by Stirlingshire Voluntary Enterprise (SVE), the event shone a spotlight on local volunteers who generously donate their time to support their communities. The evening honoured 28 exceptional volunteers after a rigorous nomination process that received over 100 remarkable stories of selflessness and dedication.
Among friends, family, and supporters, the attendees exuded an atmosphere of celebration and inspiration, acknowledging the extraordinary contributions of each nominee to making Stirling a better place. Natalie Masterson, SVE’s chief officer, expressed her admiration for the dedication of the volunteers, noting the overwhelming commitment displayed to the community. With Radio presenter Gina McKie as the event’s MC and entertainment by the Saltire Steel Band, the night was a joyous celebration of community spirit.
SVE extended gratitude to Solicitors for Older People and NHS Forth Valley for sponsoring the awards, along with all category sponsors for their support. The introduction of a special Stirling 900 Award, sponsored by Kildean Business Park, paid tribute to the area’s longest-serving volunteers. Individuals like June Payne, John Dymond, and Pat Griffin were honoured for their decades of service, standing as a testament to the enduring impact of community service.
Saltire 500 Hours Awards were presented to individuals like Madi Bailes, Arran Scott, and Mollie Khan for their exceptional commitment to volunteering. The most prestigious accolade of the evening, the Inspire Volunteering Award 2024, was bestowed upon Colin Watterson from Forth Valley Sensory Centre for his remarkable community contribution. His dedication as a Deaf volunteer within and beyond the centre exemplified the power of inclusivity within communities.
Awards were also given in various categories, including Volunteering for Your Environment, won by ROC Garden Group, and Volunteering for Health & Wellbeing, secured by Ian McFarlane of Change Grow Live. The evening highlighted the invaluable contributions of volunteers like Craig Allan of Active Stirling in enhancing the well-being of individuals with disabilities through sport and leisure activities.
