An announcement by the Royal Bank of Scotland has brought relief to customers in East Kilbride, as the closure date for the local branch has been delayed. While three other Lanarkshire branches are still set to close on October 1, the East Kilbride branch will remain open “for a little longer” to support its customers. Additionally, customers can utilize banking services at any Post Office, with the nearest RBS branch six miles away in Giffnock. Efforts to save the East Kilbride branch included a petition by a local pensioner and discussions with MSP Collette Stevenson and Council Leader Joe Fagan, but NatWest ultimately confirmed the closure decision.
