Escape to the Chateau’s Dick and Angel on hunt for Scot to help renovate their French castle

Escape to the Chateau stars, Dick and Angel Strawbridge, known for their adventures renovating an abandoned 19th-century chateau in France, are now on the lookout for a Scottish helper to join them in their castle renovation journey. The dynamic duo, famous for their Channel 4 series “Escape to the Chateau,” are currently on their Forever Home UK 2024 Tour, seeking a multi-skilled individual to assist them in their ongoing restoration project.

During their tour, Dick and Angel are inviting audience members to participate in challenges to compete for the title of their town’s ‘Escape to the Chateau – Jack of All Trades.’ Winners from each tour stop will be shortlisted for the final selection of an overall DIY champion, who will earn the opportunity to visit Chateau de la Motte-Husson in France and contribute their skills to the renovation efforts. With tour stops in Edinburgh, Aberdeen, and Glasgow, there is a chance for a Scot to join the couple on their exciting French escapade.

Reflecting on their journey, Dick spoke about the progress they have made since purchasing the chateau in 2014, expressing their excitement to engage with the Scottish audience who have followed their story throughout the years. Angel, a designer and founder of The Vintage Patisserie, highlighted the tour’s main objective of finding a versatile individual who can tackle various tasks at the chateau. Volunteers at the show will showcase their skills in challenges ranging from cake decorating to plumbing and electrics.

The couple’s chateau, initially purchased for £280,000, lacked basic amenities like electricity and heating when they acquired it, presenting them with a daunting yet rewarding restoration project. Dick, reflecting on their decision to take on such a monumental task, shared their determination to find a place where they could build a home for their family, emphasizing the rewarding journey they have experienced thus far. Angel echoed the sentiment, underlining the inclusive nature of the challenges during the tour and the importance of a can-do attitude in achieving success.

Their show, “Escape to the Chateau,” which first aired in 2016, chronicled the Strawbridges’ efforts to refurbish the property, complete with a moat, extensive grounds, and a guesthouse for Angel’s parents. With the latest season airing in December 2022, the couple continues to inspire viewers with their steadfast dedication to transforming their chateau into a forever home. Dick and Angel, accompanied by their children Dorothy and Arthur, are enthusiastic about sharing their experiences and creating lasting memories during their upcoming tour in Scotland.

The Strawbridge family is set to visit Edinburgh, Aberdeen, and Glasgow as part of Dick & Angel’s Forever Home 2024 Tour, where they will engage with fans, share untold stories, and seek a talented individual to join their team. With their passion for restoration and DIY projects, Dick and Angel are eager to welcome a Scottish companion to their French castle and continue their legacy of creating a dream home amidst historical charm and picturesque surroundings.
