Oasis has decided not to implement Ticketmaster’s “dynamic pricing” system for their upcoming tour in North America, following the backlash they faced in the UK and Ireland. The band, consisting of Liam and Noel Gallagher, recently announced plans for a reunion tour in 2025 after setting aside their long-standing feud.
Fans in the UK and Ireland expressed disappointment when they discovered that ticket prices were inflated up to four times higher than the originally stated prices due to Ticketmaster’s dynamic pricing scheme, which adjusts prices according to demand. This led to widespread criticism and concerns over consumer protection laws, prompting the Competition and Markets Authority to launch an investigation into the matter.
The iconic Britpop group unveiled tour dates for the US, Canada, and Mexico leg of their Oasis Live ’25 tour on Monday. The tour will kick off at Rogers Stadium in Toronto, Ontario, on August 24 next year, followed by shows in various cities including Chicago, East Rutherford, Los Angeles, and Mexico City.
In response to the issues faced by fans in the UK and Ireland, Oasis’s management announced that dynamic pricing would not be applied to ticket sales for their North America concerts. They explained that while dynamic pricing can help combat ticket touting and keep prices affordable for fans, it may lead to an unacceptable experience when combined with high demand and technological limitations.
Similar to the UK and Ireland leg of the tour, fans interested in purchasing tickets for the North America shows will have the opportunity to enter a pre-ballot system. The band’s last visit to North America was during their 2008-2009 Dig Out Your Soul tour, before they disbanded in 2009 following a backstage altercation at a music festival in France.
Tickets for the North America tour will go on sale from October 4, with a focus on ensuring a smoother experience for fans compared to the challenges faced during the UK and Ireland ticket sales. Amid the excitement surrounding Oasis’s reunion, fans can look forward to their iconic music making a comeback on stage.
