A woman recently shared her shocking experience with luxury retailer Saks Fifth Avenue, alleging they refused her dress return due to ‘deodorant stains and odor’ issues. The incident came to light when TikTok lifestyle creator Brittany Paige, with over 30,000 followers, took to social media to disclose her frustrating experience with the company. Since then, her viral video has resonated with many viewers who claimed they’ve faced similar challenges with Saks.
Paige recounted ordering a $695 Ramona Geometric Sequined Strapless Gown for her sister’s wedding, considering it a splurge. However, upon trying it on for a brief period, she decided the dress wasn’t her favourite and attempted to return it on July 23 after purchasing an alternative gown elsewhere. To her surprise, the dress was returned to her a month later, with Saks allegedly citing deodorant stains and odour as reasons for rejecting the return.
Despite the dress still having tags attached and no visible issues, Paige was told by the company’s customer service that the return was denied due to perceived damages. After sending detailed photos of the dress for review, Saks maintained their decision, leaving Paige frustrated. This was not the first time she faced return issues with Saks, as she recalled previous challenges with different purchases from the retailer.
Numerous individuals in the comment section of Paige’s video shared similar experiences, citing wrongful denials and poor customer service. Paige’s story gained traction, prompting Saks Fifth Avenue to review her case. Eventually, a member of the executive team resolved her return issue and issued her refund, providing some relief. Despite this, Paige expressed concern for others who might face similar treatment and emphasized the importance of fair return policies.
Saks Fifth Avenue, owned by Hudson’s Bay Company, has yet to comment on the matter. The incident sheds light on the challenges consumers face with high-end retailers and raises questions about customer service and return processes within the industry.
