Disgusted Air India passenger claims she found cockroach in her in-flight meal
An Air India passenger has raised concerns after allegedly discovering a cockroach in her in-flight meal while travelling with her two-year-old child on a flight from Delhi to New York. Suyesha Savant, an India-based journalist, reported finding the insect in the omelette served to her and her child on board the aircraft. She shared her distress on X, stating that her toddler had consumed more than half of the meal before the discovery, leading to food poisoning symptoms.
Accompanying her post, which has garnered nearly 100,000 views, were images showing the unfinished meal with what appeared to be a cockroach’s head in the omelette. Additionally, she uploaded a video detailing other grievances encountered during the flight, including a malfunctioning seat and unclean back seat pocket filled with waste bottles. Savant expressed dissatisfaction with the airline staff’s response to the issues raised.
In response to the viral outcry, Air India’s X account expressed regret over Savant’s ordeal and requested her booking details for further investigation. A spokesperson for Air India assured that the airline collaborates with reputable catering services adhering to stringent quality standards and procedures. They acknowledged the incident, pledging to probe the matter with their catering provider to prevent future occurrences.
This incident follows another recent controversy involving a disgruntled passenger who highlighted the subpar conditions of a first-class cabin on an Air India flight from Chicago to Delhi. Entrepreneur Anip Patel documented ripped furnishings, unclean surroundings, and a faulty in-flight entertainment system in a video that went viral on social media. Patel received a full refund for his premium seat after the video gained traction online.
