The first picture of a tragic eight-year-old boy, Jay Cartmell, who was shot dead on a farm in Warcop, Cumbria, has been released as tributes pour in for the young victim. Jay suffered life-threatening head and facial injuries during the incident that took place next to the A66 on Saturday, September 28. Despite efforts by medical staff, Jay passed away later that night in the hospital. Police have disclosed that a firearm was found at the scene and a man in his sixties has been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter.

Football clubs in west Cumbria have united in mourning the loss of Jay, who was a youth player for Whitehaven Miners FC. The club expressed their condolences on social media, stating, “RIP wee man #oneofour #lanternforlife.
