MP Pamela Nash Commends Wishaw Children’s Charity Work During Volunteer Efforts
Motherwell, Wishaw, and Carluke MP Pamela Nash recently lauded the efforts of Les Hoey and his Dreammaker Foundation following her time spent volunteering for the charity. Nash joined forces with Hoey after an appeal for volunteers at a fundraising bucket collection hosted at Tesco in Wishaw just last week.
The Dreammaker Foundation was established by Les Hoey over 30 years ago in response to his daughter Shelley’s diagnosis with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia at the young age of 12. Touched by the impact of fulfilling Shelley’s dream of meeting Boyzone during her illness, Hoey embarked on fundraising to provide similar experiences for other children facing life-limiting conditions.
Over the years, the foundation has facilitated meetings with various celebrities, including Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, Conor McGregor, Katy Perry, and the Scotland football team, for children in need. Additionally, the charity tirelessly fundraises to offer gifts and support to children undergoing treatment in hospitals.
Expressing her admiration for the Dreammaker Foundation, Nash remarked, “It was lovely to meet Les and hear all about his work with the Dreammaker Foundation – what he has managed to achieve over three decades is truly inspiring and I was absolutely more than happy to pitch in and help out a little with the fundraising.”
Nash extended her gratitude to individuals who donated and engaged in conversations with Les and herself during the charitable event, highlighting the meaningful impact of their collective efforts. Les Hoey, honoured with an MBE in 2013 for his dedicated service, welcomed Nash’s participation and encouraged others to volunteer with the Dreammaker Foundation to contribute to its noble cause.
Those interested in volunteering or supporting the Dreammaker Foundation are encouraged to reach out and offer their assistance, ensuring the charity’s mission to bring joy and positivity to children battling challenging circumstances is upheld.
The collaborative efforts of individuals like Pamela Nash and Les Hoey serve as a beacon of hope and support for children in need within the Wishaw community and beyond. Their commitment to making a difference through acts of kindness and generosity exemplifies the power of community involvement and solidarity in fostering a brighter future for vulnerable individuals.
As Nash and Hoey continue their dedicated work with the Dreammaker Foundation, their partnership exemplifies the profound impact that compassionate initiatives can have on the lives of children facing adversity. Through ongoing support and engagement, the charity aims to uplift spirits, create cherished memories, and spread joy to those in challenging situations.
