The team responsible for the construction of the new family learning centre in Wishaw has expressed their delight with the final results. The project, a vital addition to the community, was initiated by North Lanarkshire Council (NLC), and recently completed by Hamilton-based group Procast. The refurbishment of the Heathery Park Family Learning Centre, a significant community project, was successfully carried out by Procast after being approached by NLC earlier this year to take over and complete the project due to the building being in a state of disrepair.
Procast Group, the main contractor for the project, ensured the successful transformation of the existing local community centre as part of the 1,140 hours Early Years and Childcare programme. The refurbishment included internal renovations and external work such as external wall insulation, windows, bathrooms, and kitchen upgrades. The team dedicated themselves to restoring and repurposing the venue to meet the council’s requirements for an early learning centre capable of accommodating up to 40 children.
The Family Learning Centre, staffed by eight trained NLC employees, will provide a safe and nurturing environment for local children in the early learning age group. The centre aims to support the educational and developmental needs of the children in the community. Derek Innes, Group Managing Director at Procast Group, described the Heathery Park project as a prime example of revitalising and repurposing community spaces for future generations. He expressed pride in the company’s key role in bringing the project to fruition, ensuring it meets the highest standards of quality and safety through collaboration between local councils and contractors.
