Voyeur charged with hiding under vehicles at car wash to stare at women’s feet

A voyeur has been apprehended by authorities in Arizona for allegedly hiding beneath women’s vehicles to touch their feet. Jesse Michael Johnson, 28, was arrested last month on charges of voyeurism and disorderly conduct after being found under women’s SUVs at a Super Star Car Wash in Gilbert.

The incident came to light when one of the women, who spotted Johnson under her car while she was vacuuming, requested to review the car wash’s surveillance footage. Keith Baker, an employee at the car wash, confirmed the unsettling behaviour, stating, “Any time we looked at him under the vehicle, he was just lying there watching them.” The employee expressed shock and bewilderment at the situation.

In the video footage, Johnson can be seen moving back and forth, observing a woman before slipping under her front tire for five to six minutes. He then pretends to work on his back tire, attempting to disguise his actions. All the women targeted by Johnson were wearing flip flops and shorts during the incidents.

Employees managed to note down Johnson’s license plate from the footage and remained vigilant in case he returned. According to court documents, Johnson has a history of similar offences and has been arrested multiple times over the years for related incidents.

Reports indicate that in 2016, Johnson was caught by police at a grocery store in Nebraska after hiding under a woman’s car to touch her feet, marking the fourth such incident in a year. Johnson’s odd behaviour was acknowledged by Fox32 at the time, quoting him saying, “I just have this weird addiction and odd behaviour. I don’t know why.”

Following the recent arrest, Johnson’s bond has been set at $10,000, and if released, he will be required to wear an ankle monitor. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 3 to address the charges he faces.

The unsettling behaviour exhibited by Johnson has raised concerns among residents and authorities, prompting a closer look at ensuring the safety and security of individuals in public spaces. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and quick response to incidents of harassment and inappropriate behaviour towards others.
