Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant group, has recently faced significant losses, including the death of its long-time leader, Hassan Nasrallah, in an Israeli airstrike. Israel, on the other hand, initiated limited ground operations against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon following these events. The situation remains tense with both sides actively involved in the conflict.
Hezbollah’s forces are strategically deployed in various units across Lebanon. The group’s fighters have gained experience from participating in regional conflicts, notably in Syria. Hezbollah has different units, such as Nasr and Aziz stationed along the Israeli border, the Badr unit in mountainous regions overlooking southern Lebanon, the Haidar unit in the eastern Bekaa Valley, and the Dahiyeh unit in Beirut.
In recent weeks, Hezbollah has lost key military commanders, but still has influential leaders like Talal Hamieh and Khodor Nader in active roles. The group possesses an arsenal of over 150,000 rockets and missiles, as well as surveillance drones. Despite Israeli attempts to target Hezbollah’s weapons supplies, the group continues to showcase new weaponry like the Fadi rockets.
Hezbollah’s capabilities include precision-guided missiles and surface-to-sea missiles. The group has demonstrated their strength by launching attacks across borders and intercepting enemy drones. The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah remains volatile, with both sides engaged in military actions. The situation is evolving, presenting ongoing challenges and risks for all parties involved.
