Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan died from an accidental drug overdose, medical examiner says

Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan has tragically passed away at the age of 33 due to an accidental drug overdose, as confirmed by the medical examiner’s office in Georgia.

According to a report from the Fulton County medical examiner obtained by People Magazine, the official cause of death for the hip-hop artist, whose real name is Dequantes Devontay Lamar, was a mixture of drugs including fentanyl, alprazolam, codeine, and promethazine. The report noted that there were no signs of physical trauma on Quan’s body, and his death was ruled as accidental.

Quan’s brother informed authorities that he initially believed the rapper was sleeping on the kitchen floor before moving him to the couch. He noted it was unusual to see food still in Quan’s mouth. Later that morning, a woman discovered Quan’s body cold and unresponsive, prompting a call to the police.

Rich Homie Quan rose to prominence in the mid-2010s with hit singles like “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” and “Type of Way,” which garnered him mainstream success. He collaborated with notable artists such as Jeezy, Meek Mill, and Young Thug, releasing tracks like “Lifestyle” with Rich Gang and “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” produced by DJ Spinz and Nitti Beatz, achieving his highest charting solo single on the Billboard Hot 100.

In 2018, Quan released his first and only studio album, “Rich as in Spirit,” featuring tracks like “Think About It” with Rick Ross. The rapper’s untimely passing has deeply saddened fans and the music community, marking the end of a promising career.
