Ian Hislop, well-known for his appearances on the comedy show “Have I Got News For You,” was reportedly involved in a frightening incident when a suspected gun attack targeted him. The incident occurred when a taxi, with the Private Eye editor inside, was shot at.
According to reports, the taxi driver informed Scotland Yard detectives that Hislop was seated in the back of the cab on Tuesday morning when he heard what seemed to be a bullet hitting and damaging the window. Fortunately, neither Hislop, aged 64, nor the cab driver sustained any injuries during the attack.
The bullet struck the taxi’s window just after 10 am while the vehicle was stationary in traffic on Dean Street in Soho, in close proximity to Private Eye’s offices. The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that an investigation is underway following the firearms discharge incident. The police were alerted at 10:10 am on Tuesday to the incidence on Dean Street.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police stated, “The driver of a London black taxi reported he was stationary in traffic when a shot was fired towards his vehicle, striking the window. There were no injuries. An investigation has been launched.” The motive behind the attack is still being investigated, and the police are examining CCTV footage to gather more information.
