Rich Homie Quan’s Official Cause of Death Revealed After Rapper Dies at Age 34
The official cause of death for Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan has been revealed, nearly a month after his passing at the age of 34. Quan, born Dequantes Devontay Lamar, who was known for his collaborations with Young Thug as part of Rich Gang, tragically passed away on September 5.
On October 1, the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office released its autopsy report, stating that Quan’s cause of death was ruled as an accidental drug overdose. The report, as per People magazine, indicated that a mix of substances including fentanyl, alprazolam, codeine, promethazine, and THC were found in his system. It was also noted that there were no signs of trauma on the late rapper’s body.
According to his brother, Quan was initially thought to be asleep on the kitchen floor before being moved to the couch as it was unusual for him to still have food in his mouth. Later that morning, authorities were alerted by a woman who found Quan unresponsive with no signs of breathing.
Known for his contributions to hip-hop in the mid-2010s, Quan rose to fame with hits like “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” and “Type of Way.” These tracks garnered widespread attention and even featured remixes with artists such as Jeezy and Meek Mill. His involvement in the Rich Gang collective led to further successes like the song “Lifestyle” produced by London on da Track.
In 2018, Quan released his first and only studio album, “Rich as in Spirit,” which notably featured minimal collaborations. The news of his untimely death prompted an outpouring of tributes from the music community, with artists like Quavo, 2 Chainz, and Megan Thee Stallion paying their respects.
Quan’s legacy in the music industry will be remembered, as fans and peers continue to honour his contributions.
