Strictly Come Dancing reveals songs for movie week

Strictly Come Dancing is gearing up for a spectacular Movie Week as the show reveals the lineup of songs that the celebrity contestants will dance to. This themed week has become a fan favourite, with contestants embodying beloved film characters and performing to iconic movie soundtracks.

This year’s Movie Week promises to be exciting, with performances inspired by films such as Paddington, Willy Wonka and The Little Mermaid. Some of the standout performances to look forward to include Toyah Willcox and Neil Jones dancing the Samba to “Poor Unfortunate Souls” from The Little Mermaid, and Pete Wicks and Jowita Przystał also tackling the Samba with the George of the Jungle theme.

Other notable performances include Paul Merson and Karen Hauer’s Cha Cha Cha to The Magnificent Seven theme, and Wynne Evans and Katya Jones dancing the Cha Cha Cha to “Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag” from Mrs Doubtfire. Miranda star Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola will take on a Viennese Waltz to “Hedwig’s Theme” from Harry Potter, while Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu will perform a Viennese Waltz to “If I Can Dream” from the film Elvis. Additionally, Tasha Ghouri and Aljaž Škorjanec will dazzle with a Rumba to Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” from Barbie.

In the previous week’s show, Love Island star Tasha Ghouri and her partner Aljaž Škorjanec wowed audiences and judges with their Viennese Waltz, topping the leaderboard with a record-breaking score. Other standout performances included Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola’s Paso Doble and Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu’s Tango, which impressed the judges and saw a significant improvement in scores.

However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing as Toyah Willcox and Olympic swimmer Tom Dean received the lowest scores and had to face the dreaded dance-off, with Dean eliminated from the competition.
