Bruce Springsteen endorses Kamala Harris while eviscerating ‘dangerous’ Trump

Bruce Springsteen has officially endorsed Kamala Harris for president while strongly criticising Donald Trump as being “the most dangerous candidate for president in my lifetime.” The legendary singer, aged 75, made his support known in a video shared on his Instagram account, expressing his backing for Harris and vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz, along with his opposition to Trump and JD Vance.

Springsteen highlighted the pivotal importance of the upcoming election, stating that the United States is facing profound divisions not seen since the Civil War. He emphasised the need for a return to shared values and a united nation, citing freedom, social justice, and equal opportunity as core American ideals. The musician condemned Trump for his disregard of democratic principles, the Constitution, and the rule of law, asserting that such actions disqualify him from holding the office of president ever again.

In contrast, Springsteen praised Harris and Walz for their inclusive vision of America, one that embraces people from all backgrounds and seeks to improve the economy for the benefit of all citizens. He reiterated his long-standing commitment to a vision of the country that celebrates diversity and opportunity for everyone. Springsteen acknowledged differing perspectives among voters but underscored the significance of exercising one’s vote.

The musician’s endorsement adds to a growing list of celebrities publicly supporting political candidates ahead of the election. Earlier in the year, Taylor Swift also endorsed Harris, while Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s endorsement of Trump was noted as a significant moment by pollsters. Following the recent vice presidential debate, where Harris faced off against Pence, opinions on the candidates’ performances varied, with JD Vance being noted for surpassing expectations compared to Walz.

As the election date approaches, Springsteen’s endorsement carries weight among his fans and the public. His message underscores the critical nature of this election and the importance of civic engagement. With the race heating up, the support of influential figures like Springsteen and Swift could potentially impact voter turnout and decision-making in this historic election.
