Elon Musk is facing backlash for questioning which influential individuals had knowledge of the serious abuse allegations against Sean “Diddy” Combs, despite Musk considering the music mogul as both an investor and a friend. The Tesla billionaire took to X to address the recent wave of accusations against Combs, where a legal team announced intentions to file over 100 sexual assault lawsuits to break the perceived “wall of silence” surrounding famous figures who allegedly enabled the musician.
On 1st October, Musk tweeted to his followers, asking, “How many people in music & entertainment knew about this?” This prompted many to highlight Musk’s own connections to Combs, who is currently under arrest by federal agents on charges including racketeering and sex trafficking, which he vehemently denies. Responding to Musk’s tweet, a user named Mac pointed out, “hmmm maybe you could have asked him when he invested in your twitter deal.”
Furthermore, Luke Zaleski, legal affairs editor at Condé Nast, questioned Musk on how often he had met with Diddy. Music critic Anthony Fantano also highlighted a photo showing Musk with Ghislaine Maxwell, a close associate of the late Jeffrey Epstein, raising eyebrows within the online community. The photo in question was taken in 2014, several years after Epstein had made a plea deal with Florida prosecutors over allegations of sexual misconduct involving minors.
It has come to light that a fund linked to Combs is an investor in X, as revealed in a list of funders presented in federal court back in August. Moreover, Musk had reportedly shared that he and Combs were good friends during a meeting, as detailed in the book “Character Limit” by New York Times journalists Kate Conger and Ryan Mac.
Federal prosecutors have levelled serious accusations against Combs, describing him as the mastermind behind a “criminal enterprise” involved in crimes such as arson, kidnapping, forced labour, bribery, obstruction of justice, and sex trafficking. Police claim to have discovered assault rifles with erased serial numbers, drugs, and a substantial quantity of baby oil and lubricant – allegedly used in what Combs termed “Freak Offs”, exploitative incidents. Additionally, numerous women have come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct against the mogul.
Leaked video footage showing Diddy physically assaulting his former girlfriend, singer Cassie, in a hotel corridor has caused further controversy. Although he later apologised for his actions, this incident has added to the growing concerns surrounding Combs. As the situation unfolds, questions regarding Musk’s association with Combs continue to raise eyebrows, with the entrepreneur yet to offer a response to the mounting scrutiny.
