Nobody Wants This creator Erin Foster opens up about potential season 2

Erin Foster, the creator of the series “Nobody Wants This,” recently discussed the potential for a second season, mentioning that “conversations have definitely started to happen.” The romcom series, consisting of 10 episodes, follows the unlikely romance between Joanne (played by Kristen Bell), an agnostic serial dater, and Noah (played by Adam Brody), a progressive rabbi fresh out of a long-term relationship.

Their story unfolds as they navigate the balance between their intense chemistry and different values, with Joanne contemplating the idea of converting to Judaism to be with Noah. Inspired by her own love story with her husband, Foster opened up about the positive reception the series has received and shared her thoughts on a possible second season.

“We’re getting a really positive response, and so I think the conversations have definitely started to happen about a potential season two,” Foster commented. She expressed her desire to continue developing the story at a steady pace if a second season materializes, aiming to pick up where they left off without rushing ahead.

Despite facing criticism post-release regarding potential stereotypes about Jewish women, Foster emphasized the need for positive Jewish narratives, especially with a character like a young, laid-back rabbi at the forefront. The show’s cliffhanger ending, where Joanne contemplates conversion, was designed to offer a realistic yet satisfying conclusion, setting the stage for further conflict and character growth.

Reviewing the series, The Independent’s Katie Rosseinsky awarded it four stars, describing it as “devastatingly relatable” and “laugh-out-loud funny.” She praised the show’s clever characterisation and willingness to explore off-beat scenarios, creating an enjoyable mix of romcom escapism and sharp realism that makes Joanne and Noah a couple worth rooting for.

Fans can currently stream all 10 episodes of “Nobody Wants This” on Netflix, with the potential for a second season on the horizon.
