He emphasised that appointing the right manager is crucial for success and suggested that retaining Ten Hag could lead to another disappointing campaign and significant financial losses.
The former player expressed doubts about Ten Hag’s ability to lead the team, indicating that the lack of trust in the manager could signal the beginning of the end of his tenure. Manchester United’s recent struggles, including requiring a last-minute goal to secure a draw against Porto and multiple red cards, have further heightened the pressure on Ten Hag.
Despite Bruno Fernandes’ suspension being overturned, the team faces challenges ahead as they strive to improve their performance under the continued leadership of Erik ten Hag.
