A 43-foot tall nude effigy of former US President Donald Trump has made its reappearance behind a marijuana dispensary in Arizona, following its disappearance last week from a location near Las Vegas. The statue, named Crooked and Obscene and weighing 6,000 pounds, is situated on private property. The parcel’s majority owner, Tom Yarak, mentioned to Axios that he consented to the display as a business deal rather than a political statement, stating, “I’m like Switzerland, brother.”
Initially spotted at the end of September looming over Interstate 15, the statue drew attention from local authorities who sought its removal despite being on private property. The Nevada Republican Party criticized the stunt, describing it as “deplorable” and aimed at “shock value rather than meaningful dialogue.” They contrasted the focus of President Trump and Republicans on tangible results such as reducing inflation, securing borders, creating jobs, and ensuring a promising future for all Americans, with what they deemed as Democrats prioritizing shock tactics over substance in the political landscape.
Although the individuals behind the installation have chosen to remain anonymous, they expressed to The Wrap that their creation was intended as a “bold statement on transparency, vulnerability, and the public personas of political figures,” aiming to spark conversations about political transparency and encourage critical thinking about political influence. Plans are in place to take Crooked and Obscene on a tour across various locations in the country.
Both Nevada and Arizona are crucial swing states in the upcoming 2024 election. Polling data indicates that Kamala Harris currently holds a projected three percent lead over Donald Trump, extending into swing states such as Arizona where Harris leads Trump by three points and Nevada where the lead stands at seven points.

The re-emergence of the controversial statue has reignited public interest in the ongoing debate surrounding political figures. It continues to serve as a symbol of transparency and vulnerability within the political sphere, prompting viewers to contemplate the dynamics of influence in contemporary politics. With this bold initiative set to tour different locations nationwide, the conversation around political transparency and accountability is poised to gain further momentum.
