Comedian Shazia Mirza was eliminated from Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins after struggling to keep up with fellow competitors during an assault course in the latest episode. The 45-year-old fell behind from the start of the “bee sting” task on the Channel 4 show, with directing staff urging her to “keep up” and “stop loafing”. Chief instructor Billy Billingham eventually asked her to surrender her armband, marking her departure from the programme. Despite Mirza’s protests of not wanting to accept it, she had no choice but to hand it over.
The challenging task required participants to navigate through a gruelling circuit involving submerging into water and performing exercises like star jumps and press-ups. Following Mirza’s exit, British basketball player Ovie Soko, aged 33, considered quitting after a directing staff member mocked him for wearing another contestant’s fleece due to his own being damaged. Feeling frustrated, Soko expressed his irritation and contemplated leaving the show, feeling like he was being ridiculed for factors beyond his control.
Ultimately, Soko decided to leave the show and confided in the directing staff about his reasons. Chief instructor Billy Billingham empathised with him, acknowledging that something deep within Soko had been triggered that day. Despite respecting Soko’s decision to exit, Billingham encouraged him to reconsider and continue if he felt up to it.
Upon returning, Soko opened up about his trust issues, sharing personal stories from his upbringing and family dynamics that have shaped his perspective. The episode also featured a challenge where celebrities had to extricate a VIP from a vehicle under simulated attack. This recent departure adds to the list of exits that included Marnie Simpson, Tez Ilyas, and Chris Robshaw from the previous episode.
