Real Madrid’s right-back, Dani Carvajal, has pledged to make a strong comeback after sustaining a serious knee injury during a match against Villarreal. The 32-year-old player was visibly emotional as he was carried off the field on a stretcher following a collision with Yeremy Pino.
In a statement released by Real Madrid, it was confirmed that Carvajal suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, a ruptured external collateral ligament, and a ruptured popliteus tendon in his right leg. He is set to undergo surgery in the upcoming days to address the injuries.
Taking to Instagram, the Spanish international expressed his determination, stating, “Serious cruciate ligament injury confirmed. I am going to have to go through surgery and be off the field for a few months. Already looking forward to starting recovery and coming back like a beast.”
Meanwhile, Vinicius Junior sealed Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory with an impressive long-range goal, levelling the team on points with LaLiga leaders Barcelona. However, there are concerns over the Brazilian forward’s fitness as he left the pitch clutching his shoulder.
Barcelona, currently leading the table on goal difference, is scheduled to play against Alaves on Sunday as the competition at the top of the league intensifies.
