The fiancé of missing mum, Victoria Taylor, has described being left “devastated” after enduring online abuse from cruel trolls. Victoria, aged 34, disappeared on Monday from Malton in North Yorkshire where she lived with her partner, Matthew Grant Williams, and their two-year-old daughter.
As the search for Victoria, also known as Vicky, enters its seventh day, Matthew has faced baseless accusations from trolls online regarding her disappearance. Friends close to the family revealed that Matthew is distraught over the hurtful comments and is struggling with Victoria’s absence. Publicly, a friend shared in a Facebook group dedicated to supporting the search, “It’s sad to see people pointing the finger at her partner. It’s cruel as he is going through enough already without people doing that.” Another friend echoed the sentiment, emphasizing how devastated Matthew truly is.
Matthew and Vicky had been engaged since December 2021, with him sharing to reporters previously that Vicky was passionate about providing their daughter with a better childhood than she had experienced herself. The couple, residing in Malton, North Yorkshire, had been together for several years before getting engaged.
On Thursday, some of Vicky’s belongings were found abandoned near the River Derwent, prompting an extensive search effort including divers combing through the water. Despite the challenges faced during the search, Vicky’s sisters, Emma and Heidi, expressed their gratitude towards the emergency services and volunteers for their ongoing efforts to locate Vicky.
Vicky was last captured on CCTV purchasing a soft drink at a BP garage and hasn’t been seen or heard from since. Inspector Martin Dennison from North Yorkshire Constabulary urged the public to exercise caution if assisting in the search, highlighting the specialist training and equipment available to official search teams. Any information regarding Victoria’s whereabouts should be reported to the authorities immediately.
