The heartbreaking tribute from parents of an eight-year-old boy, Jay Cartmell, who tragically died after suffering life-threatening injuries from a firearms incident on a farm in Warcop, Cumbria, has left many heartbroken. Jay showed promise in Speedway racing, a sport he had an obsession with since attending Workington Speedway at just one year old. He idolized local racers and was himself a talented rider.
The parents revealed that Jay was involved in various activities from fishing to caring for family pets, highlighting his love for animals and nature. They also mentioned his academic prowess in maths and his dream of meeting his favourite football player, Erling Haaland, and moving to Brazil to meet Lionel Messi. The statement expressed the deep love and admiration Jay received from everyone who knew him and how his memory will forever remain in their hearts.
Acknowledging the care provided to Jay during his final moments, the grieving parents extended their gratitude to the emergency services, medical staff, and various organizations that supported them during this difficult time. Following the incident, detectives recovered a firearm from the scene and arrested a man in his 60s on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter.
