Despite his wife Margaret hiding in a panic room, Mr. Cowan, who had been living in Israel for four decades, became claustrophobic and was killed at his dining table by the terrorists.
Described as a normal person by his older sister, Laura Schosloff, Mr. Cowan was a father-of-three and grandfather-of-three who enjoyed collecting fridge magnets and having barbecues. Laura Schosloff expressed her envy of the peaceful life her brother had in the kibbutz until his tragic death.
