Evil child killer Aaron Campbell, who brutally murdered young Alesha MacPhail on the Isle of Bute in 2018, is reportedly being transferred to an adult prison after spending six years at a young offenders’ institute. Campbell, who was only 16 at the time of the heinous crime, was convicted of kidnapping, raping, and killing Alesha. Despite being initially sentenced to 27 years, his term was reduced to 24 years on appeal. The High Court in Glasgow heard the harrowing details of Alesha’s murder during Campbell’s trial in February 2019.
The 22-year-old killer has been serving his sentence at Polmont YOI near Falkirk but has now been relocated to HMP Glenochil near Alloa. Last month, Campbell was reportedly escorted by three officers as he familiarised himself with his new surroundings. The tragic incident unfolded when Campbell took Alesha from her bed at her grandparents’ home on the Isle of Bute with the intent to steal cannabis. Instead, he carried out the despicable acts of rape and murder on the young girl. Alesha’s lifeless body was later found with 117 injuries at a nearby derelict hotel.
Describing Campbell as “cold, calculating, remorseless, and dangerous,” Judge Lord Matthews handed down a severe sentence in 2019. Campbell had to be admitted to a hospital after being assaulted by fellow inmates during his time at Polmont. The Scottish Prison Service declined to comment on Campbell’s transfer to the adult facility.
