An American visitor to a British McDonald’s has expressed his admiration for a menu item he wishes could be brought back to the US with him. The fast food enthusiast, recognised as @ajslambino on TikTok, embarked on a tasting adventure of various McDonald’s offerings in the UK and stumbled upon an item that caught his attention. Determined to sample something unavailable in the States, he tried out a selection of items such as the rich tomato dip, a double barbecue quarter pounder with cheese, and a novel discovery. Among his haul were “garlic cheese bites,” a shared box of goodies showcased in his TikTok video, accompanied by a Galaxy ice cream and a small portion of chips.
Upon tasting the rich tomato dip, he pondered, “It doesn’t smell like ketchup so I don’t know what it is. It came with the cheesy bites so I’m thinking it’s tomato sauce.” His excitement peaked when he tasted the dip with the cheesy bite exclaiming, “Oh my God, why don’t we have these in America? They’re amazing.” However, the fries, which “tasted like fries,” did not impress him much, suggesting they might be quite similar at all Maccies outlets.
When trying the mayo chicken burger, he realised it was a familiar item, noting, “We just call it a chicken sandwich,” drawing parallels between the McDonald’s menus in the US and UK. His enthusiasm reignited with the double barbecue quarter pounder with cheese, which he enjoyed, mentioning, “The BBQ adds a little kick to it.” After savouring the dessert, he was thoroughly impressed and has since called on the American brand to take a cue from the UK menu, stating, “We got to get on this s*** here.”
The feedback from his TikTok followers echoed his sentiments about the offerings at UK McDonald’s. One user shared, “I’ve just travelled across America and I can honestly say UK Maccies s***s all over US Maccies.” The debate over whether UK McDonald’s or US McDonald’s reigns supreme brewed among the online community.
