A body has been discovered in a river during the search for a man who was reported missing in West Dunbartonshire. Jamie Gardiner, 47, was last seen at Renton train station around 2 pm on Wednesday, October 2. After not being seen or heard from since then, the police appealed for information to help trace him. Unfortunately, officers have now confirmed that a body was found in the River Leven in the Glasgow Road area of Dumbarton at about 10.45 am on Monday. While formal identification is pending, Jamie’s devastated family has been notified.
The police mentioned that there are no suspected suspicious circumstances in relation to the death. A Police Scotland spokesperson stated, “Around 10.45 am on Monday, October 7, 2024, the body of a man was recovered from the River Leven in the Glasgow Road area of Dumbarton.” The spokesperson further added, “Formal identification has yet to take place, but the family of Jamie Gardiner, 47, reported missing from Renton on Friday, October 4, have been made aware.” A full report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
