Passengers travelling with Emirates Airlines are now prohibited from carrying pagers and walkie-talkies in either checked or cabin baggage. The airline has made it clear that these items will be confiscated by Dubai Police if found during security checks.
The decision to introduce this ban comes after a series of device explosions in Lebanon and Syria last month. These explosions were linked to Hezbollah, a Lebanese group supported by Iran and allied with Hamas. The incidents resulted in significant casualties and raised security concerns in the region.
Lebanese authorities have also taken steps to ban electronic pagers and walkie-talkies from being transported on airlines departing from Beirut Airport. Meanwhile, Emirates Airlines has suspended flights to and from Iraq, Iran, and Lebanon due to the ongoing missile strikes in the region.
Emirates Airlines reassured passengers that they are closely monitoring the situation and are in communication with relevant authorities to ensure the safety of their flights.
