Man Left Scarred After Slashing Incident at M&Ds
A horrifying attack at a popular theme park has left a man scarred for life after being slashed with a piece of glass. Connor Orr assaulted Liam Brannigan twice following a dispute over a spilled drink at M&D’s in Strathclyde Park on March 17 last year. Orr, 32, pleaded guilty to assault resulting in severe injury and permanent disfigurement at Hamilton Sheriff Court in Lanarkshire. The court heard that the altercation occurred when the victim and his friends were playing pool and an argument erupted with Orr and his group. Security had to intervene and Orr’s group was asked to leave.
The victim and his friends later found themselves standing at the exit of the park when Orr approached them with a piece of glass in his hand. Without warning, Orr struck Brannigan twice on the head, causing serious injuries. Brannigan was rushed to the hospital where he received nine stitches to close a wound behind his ear. In his defence, Orr’s lawyer, Chris Devine, mentioned that Orr, a warehouse worker from Cambuslang near Glasgow, had no prior convictions and has stayed out of trouble since the incident 18 months ago.
Sheriff Liam Murphy deferred Orr’s sentencing to the following month for further investigations and assessment, warning that all sentencing options, including imprisonment, remain on the table.
