A new transport hub in Perth, Scotland, has brought about a boost in job opportunities, with the creation of ten jobs initially. M&H Carriers, a delivery firm, has established the hub at the Inveralmond Estate, dubbing it as “the gateway to the north” for the country’s logistics industry. This marks M&H’s first presence in Perth, adding to their existing hubs in Aberdeen, Dundee, Inverness, and Argyll alongside 14 smaller satellite depots across Scotland.
The new Perth hub is set to increase its workforce with the need for more LGV class 1 drivers in the coming months. The company plans to expand its fleet with over ten new vehicles to cater to the growing demands. Managing director Fraser MacLean highlighted the strategic importance of Perth as a pivotal connection point for various regions in northern Scotland, facilitating the movement of goods to and from areas like Aberdeen, Inverness, and Oban.
Fraser emphasised the significance of the Perth hub in enhancing customer accessibility across the entire country, enabling efficient transportation of pallets, freight, and parcels both north and south. This move is expected to strengthen the company’s network and open up avenues for further growth opportunities within the industry. The delivery firm’s Perth site boasts ample yard and warehousing facilities, enabling them to scale up their delivery operations in Perth and Dundee, while also enhancing trunking services to all their northern locations.
Notably, M&H Carriers is committed to providing seamless delivery services for businesses and individuals, allowing them to ship parcels, pallets, and larger products throughout Scotland and extending to other parts of the UK and beyond. The company is bolstering its operations across Scotland through a network of 14 satellite depots, ensuring enhanced service levels particularly in rural and remote communities. To head the new Perth delivery hub, logistics professional Stephen Jamieson has joined the team, collaborating closely with current Perth and Dundee general manager, Thomas Gardiner.
