Lisa Marie Presley alleges mother’s boyfriend abused her for years when she was a child

Lisa Marie Presley has made shocking allegations in her posthumously published memoir, “From Here to the Great Unknown”, released on Tuesday. The late singer, daughter of Elvis Presley, revealed candid details of her life, including the traumas she faced before her death at 54 in 2023. One of the most disturbing revelations is that she was sexually abused by her mother’s ex-boyfriend, actor Michael Edwards, when she was a young child.

In her memoir, Presley recounts the harrowing experience of waking up to find Edwards, while drunk, kneeling beside her bed. She describes how he touched her inappropriately and made disturbing comments about what would happen to her as she grew older. Despite her attempts to resist, the abuse continued with Edwards justifying his actions by claiming it was part of European norms to teach children.

When Presley eventually confided in her mother, Priscilla Presley, about the abuse, Edwards tried to apologise, stating that his behaviour was culturally acceptable. However, the abuse persisted with Edwards making excuses and blaming Presley for his actions. Presley vividly recalls the physical abuse she endured, including being spanked and left with bruises all over her body.

Presley’s memoir also touches on her struggles following the tragic suicide of her son Benjamin in 2020. She reveals that she kept her son’s body in her home for two months after his passing, unable to part with him as she grappled with her grief. The memoir was completed by her eldest daughter, Riley Keough, in the aftermath of Presley’s death.

The Independent reached out to representatives for Michael Edwards and Priscilla Presley for comments on the allegations made by Lisa Marie Presley but has yet to receive a response. This marks a dark revelation in the life of the renowned Presley family, shedding light on the traumas that plagued Lisa Marie Presley even beyond her years in the public eye.

“From Here to the Great Unknown” is now available, providing a candid and raw account of Lisa Marie Presley’s tumultuous life and the challenges she faced, both in her childhood and as a mother herself. The memoir offers a glimpse into the personal struggles of a music icon who battled with inner demons while navigating the expectations of her famous lineage.
