Manchester United’s star defender Harry Maguire is set to be out of action for “a few weeks” due to an injury sustained during Sunday’s game. The 31-year-old had to be assisted off the field in the first half of the goalless draw against Aston Villa.
Taking to his Instagram story, Maguire expressed his frustration, stating, “Frustrated to pick up an injury at the weekend, will be a few weeks on the sideline for me but I’ll come back stronger.” This setback comes after Maguire made only his third Premier League start of the season against Villa following a substitute appearance in the Europa League match against Porto, where he scored a last-minute equaliser.
With this injury ruling him out, Maguire was also omitted from the England squad for the upcoming Nations League fixtures against Greece and Finland by manager Lee Carsley. Initially, Kobbie Mainoo was to be the sole representative from United in the England squad, but he has since withdrawn. Additionally, Alejandro Garnacho and Noussair Mazraoui will be missing from the Argentina and Morocco national teams, respectively.
