Openreach is set to bring their digital roadshow to the Greengairs Social Club, offering residents and business owners the chance to explore ultrafast Full Fibre broadband. The event will take place on October 9th between 4.30pm and 7.30pm. The initiative is part of Openreach’s nationwide tour, with a specially designed vehicle visiting various towns and villages throughout October to showcase the benefits of Full Fibre technology.
More than 1.3 million properties in Scotland, including over 68,000 in North Lanarkshire, already have access to Openreach’s Full Fibre network. The company aims to expand this coverage by working closely with local communities. Full Fibre technology provides reliable and resilient connectivity, offering faster speeds and greater capacity to meet the increasing demands of data-intensive activities such as streaming, video calls, and online transactions.
The digital roadshow in Greengairs will also provide information on Openreach’s Fibre Community Partnership scheme. This scheme allows communities to co-fund and build new Full Fibre networks, ensuring that even those not currently included in upgrade plans can benefit from high-speed broadband. In addition, residents and small businesses can take advantage of the UK Government’s Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme, which offers vouchers of up to £4500 to support the cost of Full Fibre upgrades.
Stephen Chambers, Openreach regional engagement manager, expressed excitement about the roadshow and emphasised the significant impact of ultrafast broadband on both the economy and society. He highlighted the transformational opportunities that Full Fibre connectivity brings, enabling seamless online experiences for users at home and in business settings.
Residents interested in learning more about Full Fibre broadband can visit the Openreach website to discover the advantages of this technology and track the availability of Full Fibre in their area as the rollout progresses. The digital roadshow aims to empower communities like Greengairs with the tools and knowledge to harness the benefits of ultrafast broadband for a more connected future.
